We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our development team.

Responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software following internally created design processes. Tasks can be very complex, but typically follow established general procedures and are carried out collaboratively with peer associates. Works with minimal direct supervision but communicates frequently with peers and supervisors on all aspects of development. Proactively drives continuous improvement of the product and development process, helping to develop you into the next level software engineering opportunity.

Description of Duties

  • Design, implement, document and test PC-side software in C# for motion application development tools
  • Participate in all design phases including gathering of software requirements, detailed design, and testing.
  • Facilitate product release cycle by supporting testing, executing bugfixes, and updating documentation
  • Design, implement, and maintain developer tools and testing systems
  • Assist application and field engineers in deploying and debugging developed software.
  • Support Product Management in software technical manual creation and providing software files to Product/Manufacturing/Quality Engineering.
  • Support customer software development activities. Provide software updates, documentation, training and answer technical questions.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal:
    • Peer Developers: continuous interaction and feedback on software designs and reviews.
    • Management: reporting progress and designs
    • Applications Engineering: provide support for customer-facing projects and answer technical questions
  • External
    • Users: Some possible end user interaction with during the design and requirements phase
    • Customers: Some possible interaction with customers during the deployment phase
    • Trade Shows: Some possible presence for information gathering

This position requires on-site collaboration. Yaskawa America HQ is currently located in Waukegan, IL with plans to transition to new Franklin, WI in the future.

Required Qualifications

  • BS. equivalent degree in Software, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field
  • 0-3 years software development project experience in professional, university or personal environment
  • Proficiency in C# language with strong object oriented and software design skills
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend and contribute to software design documents, references, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency and experience with multi-threading, synchronization, task scheduling concepts, and software development and source controls or other Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools for source code and test management
  • Familiarity with .NET WPF and MVVM design, unit testing frameworks, network socket programming concepts, TCP, UDP, and general network troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as those required by ISO 9001:2015, industrial automation and motion control applications,  linear control theory, PID loops and industrial PLCs and IEC61131-3
