General Summary

GTI Energy is building new initiatives to support significant business growth objectives and create business value well into the next decade by commercializing technologies and integrating solutions to transition to low-carbon, low-cost energy systems. GTI Energy is seeking a Software Developer Intern to join our Digital Innovation team to enhance our capabilities in software development by strengthening and supporting enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. In this role, the Software Developer Intern will support the execution of ongoing projects and initiatives, including developing web applications and tools to support data-driven decision-making. The role will involve working on web development, cloud solutions on Azure, digital twin technology, and visualizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web applications using Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Design and develop databases using Postgres and SQL.
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards.
  • Perform automated testing to ensure the quality and reliability of software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Develop presentations and written reports to communicate findings.
  • Support ongoing research efforts using a disciplined approach and standard best practices.
  • Participate in 1-on-1 and team meetings and contribute to team projects.
  • Participate in GTI Digital Innovation team building and networking events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, and/or Node.js.
  • Knowledge of database design
  • Experience with web development and creating data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams with both technical and non-technical members.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • An ability to translate technical information into an understandable and valuable format to non-technical audiences.
  • High-energy individual with a willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and database programming (e.g., SQL).
  • Familiarity with AI tools like Microsoft Custom Copilot, OpenAI APIs, and Computer Vision is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn is valued above possessing all listed skills.

Pay Transparency

The pay range for this position is $17 - $28 USD per hour. This pay range is GTI Energy’s good faith estimate, and the actual pay may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, GTI Energy’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus. The range listed is just one component of GTI Energy’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, paid time off, and region-specific benefits.
