Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking an Entry Level Process Engineer to be a part of our growing Engineering team based in Lenexa, KS that is developing water and wastewater infrastructure solutions across North America. Â Looking for ideal candidates to grow the KWE team by helping with the execution and evaluation of project designs. Â You will work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, to develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools/programs/software with a focus on design documentation creation/layout.

The Kiewit Water Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control, structural, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on alternative Design-Build (progressive and/or fixed price) and EPC delivery models for complex water projects. Â The team brings project solutions to life across North America in the following areas:
- Water Treatment
- Wastewater Treatment
- Desalination
- Water Reuse
- Groundwater Remediation
- Stormwater Recycling
- Pipelines and Conveyance
Location
This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS office.
Responsibilities
•   Provide engineering design support for domestic and/or international EPC/EPCm/DB projects whose responsibilities include but not limited to engineering studies, environmental permitting, conceptual and detailed design, plant layouts for water/wastewater treatment systems, industrial water/wastewater systems, and/or desalination systems on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity.
•   Develop and prepare water mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for system technologies including coagulation, flocculation, filtration, reverse osmosis (industrial and desalination), ion exchange, condensate polishing, wastewater treatment, chemical handling/storage/injection, and sampling and analysis.
•   Develop and prepare design calculations and specifications for major engineered equipment associated with the above-stated technologies.
•   Develop and prepare design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
•   Assist in preparation, monitoring, and updating project plans, schedules, and budgets to project discipline leadership to ensure successful project completion.
•   Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, and fabricator(s) to address process-related issues or concerns.
•   Support department managers in achieving performance goals for the department.
Qualifications
•   Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university
•   3.0 Cumulative GPA preferred
•   Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred. Â
•   General knowledge of process/water treatment technologies as applicable in the Municipal, industrial water/wastewater and/or desalination industry.
•   Proficient in chemistry, thermodynamics, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics
•   Works well in a team environment
•   Willingly accepts multiple assignments with demonstrated flexibility in changing workload and priorities
•   Good communication skills
•   Demonstrated analytical skills
•   Proficient in basic computer programs utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, e-mail and other computer operations within the Microsoft Office product suite.
•   Knowledgeable in engineering software, specifically Mathcad, ASPEN, BioWin, GSP-X or Matlab preferred.
