About the role:

As a New Grad Mechanical Engineer you will support engineering, procurement and construction activities for new power plant technologies and the launch and development of Westinghouse’s First of a Kind (FOAK) Pumped Thermal Energy Storage solution, a form of Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES), and secondary support for Westinghouse’s flagship AP1000® design, AP300TM small modular reactor (SMR) design, eVinciTM microreactor design and Pumped Thermal Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) design.

You will report to the Lead Engineer for Co-Generation and Advanced BOP Mechanical & Chemical Process Engineering. You will be hybrid based in Rock Hill, SC. We can entertain candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical tasks for engineering, procurement and implementation maintaining long-term operations of existing and legacy Westinghouse designs
  • Collect and compile data for design development, technical summaries and project reports
  • Assist w/ proposals, labor/material estimates and design packages documenting technical data.
  • Design thermal-fluid systems, equipment sizing and specification, procurement package development, incorporate supplier data and coordinate other disciplines integrated engineering.
  • Collect and interpret data w/ engineering summaries and reports as a work product
  • Engineering design development, site walkdowns, design drawings and changes
Qualifications:
  • 0+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Basic understanding:
    • Code, standards and regulations
    • Energy storage systems a beyond-electricity applications like electrolysis hydrogen production, district heating/energy and thermal power dispatch
    • Impact and interrelationship of disciplines' drawings on design
  • Desire to work towards E.I.T. / PE
