The Mechanical Design Engineer (entry level) will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering designs and drawings using SolidWorks or similar design software, writing technical reports, and ensuring design drawings conform to specifications and design data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
- preparation and interpretation of conventional and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) engineering designs drawings and specifications for machines and components, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes.
- Complete documentation packages, including component drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOM), suitable for subcontracting fabrication activities.
- Write technical reports, as required.
- May assist in the construction and rebuilding of machines used in production.
- Reviews, generates and monitors documentation for content, accuracy, dates, configuration and descriptions.
- Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with provincial standards and legislation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- College degree in engineering design and drafting technology, mechanical engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs frequently
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs occasionally
- Continuous standing
- Use of hands and feet to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, controls, press buttons, levers and pedals
- Bending, twisting and reaching
- Repetitive movement
- Frequent walking
- Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves and any other protective equipment deemed necessary.
- Work indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions
- Exposure to hazardous equipment
- Work with others in a group or team
- Call-ins will be required.
- Overtime will be required.
- Travel may be required.
