The NASA End-user Services & Technologies (NEST) Program is currently seeking a System Engineer to join a dynamic team that is singularly focused on providing world class solutions to our customer in an exciting, collaborative, and inclusive atmosphere. The responsibilities for this position include all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and automated testing within an Agile model. You will be challenged and provided a tremendous opportunity for growth in a customer-facing, fast-paced, and fun environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports engineering or architectural development in the design, testing, implementation, and sustainment of complex intelligence or information sharing systems.  
  • Resolve various Modernization tasks as prioritized by the team product owner.
  • Engage in the complete system or software engineering development lifecycle, operating within well-defined parameters.
  • Take ownership of delivering enhancements within a system or application.
  • Break down sizable tasks into manageable units for execution and provide LOE estimations.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers and team members to create and document optimal technical designs.
  • Ensure team compliance with Agile processes and best practices.
  • Build system or software solutions where the solution is not clearly defined but always prioritizing customer needs.
  • Resolve obstacles for the development team, working collaboratively with the Product Owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship is required per contract.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, and less than 2 years of experience in a relevant field, or related work experience.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Solid understanding of system or software development process fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
  • Ability to complete tasking independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplined engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with or knowledge of:
    • Azure DevOps
    • Power BI
    • Power Apps
    • Power Automate
    • Operating System: Windows, Mac, and RHEL
    • .NET Framework and .Net core application development
    • API: REST and SOAP
    • Relational Database:  SQL Server with ability to write SQL scripts and procedures.
    • Primary Development technologies: C#, PowerShell, Python, Shell Script, JSON, xml, VBS/VBA
    • Frontend Web Development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.net, Web frame helpers, Bootstrap, Dev Express
    • Understanding of authentication and authorization systems and concepts:
      SAML, Oauth, Jwt

Clearance Level Required:

Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
