
Junior Electrical Design Engineer
Job description
We are currently seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer for our current and next generation cameras, imaging energy filters, specimen preparation equipment and other EM products. This individual will be responsible for working closely with the Software and Hardware groups to provide the electrical designs, and support operations. Â This position will be based out of our Pleasanton, CA office.
The primary function of this role will be as a hardware designer for electron microscope products, The individual must be familiar with analog and digital hardware design, schematics capture tools such as OrCAD and Altium, system performance and test. Â The incumbent will also be responsible for hardware bring-up, test and documentation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of mixed signal board design and layout
- Familiar with OpAmps and digital circuits
- Familiar with power supply design
- Able to work in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, Oscilloscopes)
In this role you will:
- Require strong analytical, communication and written skills
- Design hardware comprising analog and digital circuits using ECAD tools, such as OrCAD Â Â and Altium.
- Work with third party vendors to fulfill product prototyping, PCB layout and fabrication
- Bring up newly designed electro-mechanical systems and performing DVT characterization.
- Take products from concept through production, interfacing with multiple functional teams including NPI
- Design and deploy test fixtures and test scripts for contract manufacturers
- Support existing products and operations for EOL components and solving technical issues.
- Produce documentation and reports for hardware and software interfaces.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university, MS degree is a plus
- Entry level to 3 years of hardware experience
