Entry-Level Electrical Engineer
Job description
This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in a professional position that offers a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities.
The opportunity will have you teaming up with other engineers and designers involved in nuclear plant electrical systems betterment and associated modifications, which will include the following:
- Electrical systems design
- Preparation of complex calculations
- Load flow and short circuit
- Power flow
- System Impact
- Cable ampacity
- Preparation of documented design inputs
- Preparation of equipment and material specifications
- Preparation of design reports
Additional opportunities will include:
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced engineers in the execution of meaningful project engineering assignments
- Become involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with a strong academic background in electrical power concepts/power systems analysis
- An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
- Strong problem solving skills are desired
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Internship or work experience in performing power analysis, preferably within the power industry
- Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
