Entry Level - Design Engineer - Night Shift

Summary/Objective:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting Senior-Level Engineers throughout the design process from ideation to production. Typical design processes last between 4-6 hours, so the candidate will always be encountering new and exciting problems. The candidate will learn under a team of engineers for 2-4 months during an 8am-5pm schedule and then be expected to transition to night shift with a 1pm-10pm schedule with a rotational On-Call working weekends. You will draw new designs and update our current designs. During the design process, you will create a 3D model, run calculations specific to industry standards, make 2D fabrication drawings, create a calculation package/report, speak to customer engineers, and work with the fabrication facilities.

The job is located in La Porte, Texas and we will not be offering any relocation reimbursements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Draw, update, and maintain designs
• Manage multiple projects at the same time
• Ensure our designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer specifications
• Ensure that all assigned design projects are completed in a timely manner
• Use ASME codebooks with the guidance of Senior Engineering to create calculation packages

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering degree.

• CAD Experience
• Experience with SolidWorks
• Knowledge of different machining techniques and machines (lathe, mill, drill)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to be available for work outside the scheduled hours
• Strong technical writing skills
