
Application Engineer
Job description
Job Summary: The Application Engineer role will provide technical assistance to all levels of
employees, working in a fast-paced environment as part of a team with great personalities,
which fosters an opportunity for professional growth. Responsibilities include maintaining
and recording end user-support tickets, documenting problems and remedial actions,
analyzing user requirements to improve existing processes, developing technical manuals,
conducting computer diagnostics, testing programs, and coordinating solutions as part of a
project team. In addition, the Application Engineer role at Winthrop & Weinstine involves
providing technical support to internal customers and teams regarding product functionality,
troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including, but not limited to):
Technical Support
• Provide technical support to internal customers and teams regarding product
functionality, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, or in-person meetings and ensuring
timely and effective resolution of technical issues.
• Administer iManage suite of products.
Automation in Business
• Assist in the design, build, and maintenance of work flow automation and scripts to
support development and deployment processes.
• Help implement and manage automation tools and frameworks.
• Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks under guidance.
Application Development
• Develop, test and implement application solutions based on customer requirements
and specifications.
• Collaborate with the development team to create custom features and integrations.
• Ensure applications are optimized for performance and scalability.
Cloud Management
• Assist in managing cloud infrastructure on Azure, or other cloud services.
• Optimize cloud licenses and improve resource utilization under guidance.
Customer Engagement
• Work closely with customers to understand their needs, gather requirements and
provide tailored solutions.
• Clearly communicate with customers, including status of issues requiring follow up
• Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and presentations for employees
Documentation and Reporting
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, technical
specifications and troubleshooting guides.
• Prepare reports on application performance, customer feedback and improvement
recommendations.
Security and Compliance
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA,
and NIST.
• Assist with security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate
vulnerabilities.
• Implement and maintain security best practices across the infrastructure and
deployment processes.
• Ensure compliance with Firms best practices and standards.
Monitoring and Logging
• Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system
reliability and performance.
• Set up alerts and dashboards for proactive issue detection and resolution, with
support.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance
efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to
continuously improve technical knowledge and skills.
Teamwork and Collaboration
• Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams to
achieve common goals.
• Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning activities
to contribute ideas and solutions.
• Support team members by sharing knowledge, providing assistance, and encouraging
a positive and inclusive work culture.
Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a
related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as an Application Engineer or Technical Support Engineer, or in a
similar role.
• Experience with application development, software engineering, or systems
integration.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages (e.g., VBScript, PowerShell,
Batch files) and frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in database management and SQL.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions.
• Ability to handle details with accuracy.
• Work may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of
the position.
QUALIFICATIONS, PREFERRED
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
• Familiarity with Document Management methodologies (e.g., iManage Suite)
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
• Certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Requires use of office equipment, such as computers, phones, and copiers.
• Requires sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time.
• Requires occasional lifting up to and exceeding 20 pounds.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $60,000 -$70,000 annually

The IT Team is very family oriented and is a top Firm in the Twin Cities. They are very innovative and progressive. This individual will be a Jack of all Trades – assisting with multiple tasks. Initially, they will be on site for 6 months and then move to a hybrid schedule (9 days on site and 3 weeks at home). Zoom Interview initially with in-person Interviews after if initial conversation goes well.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Winthrop & Weinstine reserves the right to
adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well
as internal and external equity.
